The 2027 Quilts I'm Actually Making (And What's in Each One)

A year of quilts, scraps, and slightly unrealistic plans. Here's every project I'm making in 2027, from scrap samplers to a massive vintage block along.

The new year is basically here, and you know what that means in my sewing room: a fresh stack of patterns, a fresh pile of fabric, and a slightly unrealistic belief that I'll finish everything on schedule. Every year I line up my quilty adventures, and every year I learn something new about my own attention span. Still, the planning is half the fun. So here's what I'm excited to start (and determined to finish) throughout 2027. If you want to see all of this in person, tune in to the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube channel on Friday, November 6th, 2026, for a livestream where I'll walk through every plan for the year ahead. ### Sweet Woven Stars Sampler – My 2027 Scrap Quilt This one runs all year long, and it's my favorite kind of project: a scrap quilt that uses up the fabrics I've been hoarding. I'm using each fabric only once, sticking to shades of pink, green, blue, and yellow. No darks, no browns, no grays. The result should feel bright and airy. - Sweet Woven Stars 2027 Scrap Quilt Pattern (free PDF) - Woven Star Quilt Block Foundation Paper Pad Set - Background fabric: Coriander Seeds White on White X Print yardage (SKU# 29146-11) Finished size: 60.5 inches by 78.5 inches. ### A Quilting Life Block of the Month 2027 This is a January-through-December commitment, which is a long haul, but the Cath Kidston Signature Collection fat quarter bundle makes it worth it. I'm pairing those prints with a soft Magic Dot Cloud background (SKU# 5230-39) so the blocks can breathe. ### Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge 2027 Starting in January, I'll be working with the Charmed & Treasured half yard bundle by Kassidy Grace. The details here matter, so here's my full plan: - Background: Charmed & Treasured Latte Bows (SKU# C18163-Latte) and Latte Lottie (SKU# C18167-Latte) - Sashing: Doe Bows (SKU# C18163-Doe) - Binding: Gray Evergreen (SKU# C18166-Gray) - Backing: Latte Main (SKU# C18160-Latte) Finished size: 76 inches by 76 inches. ### Daisy Chain Tablerunner Sew Along This one is quick and satisfying, running on Mondays in January. I'm using the Daisy Chain downloadable PDF pattern by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet (also available printed), plus the Denim & Daisy fat quarter bundle. Finished size: 30.5 inches by 84.5 inches. ### Midsummer Row Along with Sherri & Chelsi Running January 21 through April 29, this row along lets me mix and match. I'm combining rows from the Hometown Summer Row pattern by A Quilting Life Designs with the Together pattern by Chelsi Stratton Designs, using the Midsummer fat quarter bundle. Finished size: 51.5 inches by 61.5 inches. ### Love Language A short and sweet project from January 25 to February 12. The Love Language pattern is free, and the kit features Je T'aime by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics. Finished size: 24.5 inches by 28.5 inches. ### Garden Dalliance Sampler Sew Along Starting in February, this one uses the Garden Dalliance Sampler Quilt Book by Shelley Cavanna. Details are still coming, but I'm already clearing shelf space. ### Vintage Block Along This is the big one. It runs March 2027 through February 2028, kicking off for National Quilting Month. I'm using the Vintage Block Along Quilt Book by Lori Holt, the Family Reunion half yard bundle, and a Bee Cross Stitch White Pebble background (SKU# C747-Pebble). I'm starting with one 10-yard bolt and skipping the backgrounds in the kit. Finished size: 90.5 inches by 108.5 inches. ### Heart to Sew Quilt Along Wrapping up the spring, April 1 through April 29, using the free Heart to Sew Quilt Pattern PDF by Riley Blake Designs. > A year of quilts isn't about finishing every single one. It's about having something to look forward to every single month. That's the plan. Ambitious? Maybe. But that's what January is for.
