The 2027 Quilt Projects I Can't Wait to Start

With the new year right around the corner, it's time to line up another year of quilty adventures. Below, you'll find the projects I'm excited to start (and ready to finish) throughout the year. If you want a sneak peek before anyone else, tune in tomorrow, November 6th, 2026, to the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel, where I'll share all my sewing plans for the year ahead in a fun Friday livestream. ### Sweet Woven Stars Sampler – 2027 Scrap Quilt **When:** Throughout 2027 This one is all about sewing with scraps, and I'm keeping it bright. I'm using each fabric only once, in shades of pink, green, blue, and yellow, with no dark, brown, or gray fabrics sneaking in. The background is Coriander Seeds White on White X Print Yardage (SKU# 29146-11), and the pattern is the Sweet Woven Stars 2027 Scrap Quilt Pattern, available as a free PDF. You'll also want the Woven Star Quilt Block Foundation Paper Pad Set to keep those points crisp. Finished size: 60.5 inches by 78.5 inches. ### A Quilting Life Block of the Month 2027 **When:** January – December 2027 This is a year-long commitment, and I'm here for it. The fabric pull is the Cath Kidston Signature Collection Fat Quarter Bundle by Cath Kidston for Riley Blake Designs, paired with Magic Dot Cloud Yardage (SKU# 5230-39) for the background. Details will roll out on the A Quilting Life Blog as they're announced, so keep an eye out. ### Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge 2027 **When:** Starting January 2027 This challenge has a lovely, coordinated palette. The main fabric is the Charmed & Treasured Half Yard Bundle by Kassidy Grace for Riley Blake Designs. For backgrounds, I'm using Charmed & Treasured Latte Bows Yardage (SKU# C18163-Latte) and Charmed & Treasured Latte Lottie Yardage (SKU# C18167-Latte). Sashing is Charmed & Treasured Doe Bows Yardage (SKU# C18163-Doe), binding is Charmed & Treasured Gray Evergreen Yardage (SKU# C18166-Gray), and the backing is Charmed & Treasured Latte Main Yardage (SKU# C18160-Latte). Finished size: 76 inches by 76 inches. ### Daisy Chain Tablerunner Sew Along **When:** Mondays in January 2027 A quick, satisfying project to kick off the year. I'm using the Daisy Chain Downloadable PDF Quilt and Runner Pattern by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet (also available as a printed pattern), plus the Daisy Chain Runner Sew Along Fabric Requirements and Schedule free PDF, a Fat Quarter Shop exclusive. The fabric is the Denim & Daisy Fat Quarter Bundle by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs. Finished size: 30.5 inches by 84.5 inches. ### Midsummer Row Along with Sherri & Chelsi **When:** January 21 – April 29, 2027 Here's where I'm getting creative: I'm mixing and matching rows from two patterns. I'll pull from the Hometown Summer Row Downloadable PDF Quilt Pattern by A Quilting Life Designs and the Together Downloadable PDF Quilt Pattern by Chelsi Stratton Designs, using the Midsummer Fat Quarter Bundle by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics. Finished size: 51.5 inches by 61.5 inches. ### Love Language **When:** January 25 – February 12, 2027 A sweet little Valentine's project. The Love Language Quilt Pattern by Fat Quarter Shop is free and available January 4, 2027, and the Love Language Quilt Kit features Je T'aime by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics. Finished size: 24.5 inches by 28.5 inches. ### Garden Dalliance Sampler Sew Along **When:** Starting February 2027 I'll be working from the Garden Dalliance Sampler Quilt Book by Shelley Cavanna. More details are coming soon, so stay tuned. ### Vintage Block Along **When:** March 2027 – February 2028, kicking off for National Quilting Month This is the big one. I'm using the Vintage Block Along Quilt Book by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet, the Vintage Block Along Quilt Kit Reservation featuring Family Reunion by Lori Holt, and the Family Reunion Half Yard Bundle by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs. For the background, I'm starting with one 10-yard bolt of Bee Cross Stitch White Pebble Yardage (SKU# C747-Pebble), and I'm not using the backgrounds in the kit. Finished size: 90.5 inches by 108.5 inches. ### Heart to Sew Quilt Along **When:** April 1 – April 29, 2027 The Heart to Sew Quilt Pattern is a free PDF by Riley Blake Designs, and it's a lovely way to wrap up the spring sewing season. > A year of quilts isn't about finishing everything. It's about having something to look forward to every single month. That's the plan for 2027. Some projects are quick weekends, others are year-long companions, and a few are big enough to take over the living room.
