The August 2026 Sew Sampler box is here, and it's packed with Adrift Sunshine & Dandelions fabric, Lori Holt tools, an exclusive butterfly template set, and Block #5 of the Spooled Quilt Along.
Every month, the Sew Sampler box shows up and you have no idea what's inside until you tear it open. August 2026 is one of those boxes that makes you want to clear your whole calendar and head straight to the sewing room. Let's walk through what's in there, because there's a lot to love.
### The Fabric: Adrift Sunshine & Dandelions
Traci Reed designed this fat quarter bundle for Riley Blake Designs, and it feels like a sunny afternoon bottled up in cotton. You get wispy dandelions, fluttering butterflies, and honeycomb prints in buttery yellow, sky blue, sage green, and classic navy.
It's the kind of palette that works whether you're making something for a kid's room or a throw for the living room couch. The prints are playful without being loud, which is a balance that's harder to pull off than it looks.
### Lori Holt's Sew-In Interfacing and the New Sew Simple Shaper
Every project needs a solid base, and Lori Holt's 8" x 8" Sew-In Interfacing (10-pack) delivers. These are precut, light to medium weight, non-fusible squares. Lori Holt and Kimberly Jolly both reach for them for string quilts, and once you try them you'll see why. Prep goes faster, which means more time at the machine.
Then there's the new Sew Simple Shaper, also from Lori Holt. Two ball point ends in different sizes let you define curves, smooth edges, and shape appliqué points without wrecking your fabric. Quilts, bags, appliqué projects — it handles all of it. Think of it as the tool you didn't know you needed until you used it once.
### Exclusive Butterfly Appliqué Templates
This 3-piece template set was made specifically for the Adrift Appliqué Quilt Pattern, and you won't find it anywhere else. Use the butterflies on your finished quilt, then carry them over to pillows, wall hangings, or table toppers. Once you start scattering them around, it's hard to stop.
### Thread That Matches the Sky
WonderFil's Small 60wt Cornflower Confetti Cotton Thread is a 100% cotton spool in a bright summer-sky blue. It pairs naturally with the blue prints in the Sunshine & Dandelions collection. Fine thread like this is great for precise piecing — your seams stay crisp and the thread blends right into the quilt.
### The Adrift Quilt Pattern and a Vault Bonus
The Adrift Appliqué Quilt Pattern (another Sew Sampler exclusive) combines playful diamonds with graceful butterfly appliqué. It's light, cheerful, and full of movement — a good project for slowing down and enjoying the process.
You also get a pattern from the Sew Sampler Vault: Feelin' Pine, a cheerful forest of pieced pine trees. It comes in two size options, so you can go small for a wall piece or large for a cozy throw.
> "The best boxes are the ones where every single item has a purpose — and this month, they all fit together like they were planned as one project."
### Block #5 of the 2026 Spooled Quilt Along
Sew Sampler subscribers get this block first. Each new block reveals a little more of the overall design, and by block five the mystery is finally starting to take shape. If you've been following along since the beginning, this is the one that makes the whole quilt click.
A finishing kit is also available for anyone who wants to complete the Adrift quilt without hunting down extra fabric.
