Welcome back for week 22 of the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along! We're celebrating our amazing quilting community with another fresh block design. Each week, one of 25 oh-sew-talented designers we've teamed up with brings you a new pattern. This time, we're thrilled to introduce the grounded Down To Earth Block by Wendy Sheppard. ### Meet the Designer This week's designer is the incredible quilt pattern creator, Wendy Sheppard. She's known for her thoughtful, precise designs that balance beauty with technique. For Sewcialites 3, she crafted the intermediate-level Down To Earth Block, which features flying geese units and plenty of piecing. It's a rewarding project that will sharpen your skills. Want to see it come together? Join Kimberly for a live sewing tutorial of the Down To Earth Block on Friday, July 24th, at 9 AM CT. Tune into the Behind The Seams Livestream on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel. It's a great chance to ask questions and sew along in real time. ### Wendy's Fabric Choice Wendy is sewing her Sewcialites 3 Quilt with scrappy red, white, and blue scraps from her stash. That patriotic palette gives the block a timeless, Americana feel. It's a perfect example of how you can use leftover fabrics to create something beautiful. ### Block Pattern and Recommended Supplies To get started, grab the free PDF pattern for the Down To Earth Block. You'll also want the Sewcialites 3 Information Packet for overall guidelines. For the flying geese, consider using foundation paper in two sizes: - 1 inch x 2 inch Flying Geese Quilt Block Foundation Paper - 1.5 inch x 3 inch Flying Geese Quilt Block Foundation Paper Visit the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along Supply Page for patterns for Blocks 1 through 21. Having all the patterns in one place makes it easy to catch up or plan ahead. ### Three Size Options, Three Fabric Collections One of the best parts of this block is its versatility. Check out the Down To Earth Block in all three size options, each using different fabric collections: - Kimberly sewed the 6-inch block using Lyda Rose by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda Fabrics. - Gina Tell made the 3-inch block in Wild Honey by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. - Pat Sloan pieced her 9-inch block with Rosie by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics. Seeing the same block in different sizes and fabrics really shows how adaptable it is. You can make it fit your own style and stash. ### Quilty Staffers Join the Fun Three of our Quilty Staffers are also joining in, making 9-inch blocks. They're using: - Blueprint by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics - American Gatherings III by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics - In the Garden by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics It's always inspiring to see how different fabrics change the look of a block. These staffers add even more variety to the Sewcialites community. ### Join the Conversation Ready to chat? Meet us in the Sewcialites Lounge!
