The Quilts I'm Making in 2027 (And Why You'll Want to Join In)

With the new year right around the corner, it's time to line up another year of quilty adventures. I've got a stack of patterns, a pile of fabric pulls, and a whole lot of excitement for what's ahead. Below, you'll find the projects I'm excited to start (and determined to finish) throughout the year. One quick note before we dive in: I'll be sharing all my sewing plans on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel in a fun Friday livestream on November 6th, 2026. Grab a cup of coffee and come sew along with me. ### Sweet Woven Stars Sampler – 2027 Scrap Quilt **When:** Throughout 2027 This is my scrap quilt for the year, and I'm keeping it bright and cheerful. I'm using each fabric only once in shades of pink, green, blue, and yellow, with no dark, brown, or gray fabrics sneaking in. The background is a Coriander Seeds White on White X Print (SKU# 29146-11), which gives the stars just enough texture without stealing the show. - Sweet Woven Stars 2027 Scrap Quilt Pattern (FREE PDF) - Woven Star Quilt Block Foundation Paper Pad Set - Background fabric: Coriander Seeds White on White X Print Yardage (SKU# 29146-11) **Finished size:** 60.5" x 78.5" ### A Quilting Life Block of the Month 2027 **When:** January – December 2027 A full year of blocks with the Cath Kidston Signature Collection Fat Quarter Bundle by Cath Kidston for Riley Blake Designs. I'm pairing it with a Magic Dot Cloud background (SKU# 5230-39) for a soft, airy finish. More details will be announced on the A Quilting Life Blog, so keep an eye out. ### Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge 2027 **When:** Starting January 2027 This one uses the Charmed & Treasured Half Yard Bundle by Kassidy Grace for Riley Blake Designs. Here's the full fabric plan: - Background: Charmed & Treasured Latte Bows (SKU# C18163-Latte) and Latte Lottie (SKU# C18167-Latte) - Sashing: Charmed & Treasured Doe Bows (SKU# C18163-Doe) - Binding: Charmed & Treasured Gray Evergreen (SKU# C18166-Gray) - Backing: Charmed & Treasured Latte Main (SKU# C18160-Latte) **Finished size:** 76" x 76" ### Daisy Chain Tablerunner Sew Along **When:** Mondays in January 2027 A quick, satisfying project to ease into the year. I'm using the Daisy Chain Downloadable PDF Quilt and Runner Pattern by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet (also available as a printed pattern), plus the free fabric requirements and schedule PDF that's a Fat Quarter Shop exclusive. The Denim & Daisy Fat Quarter Bundle by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs rounds it out. **Finished size:** 30.5" x 84.5" ### Midsummer Row Along with Sherri & Chelsi **When:** January 21 – April 29, 2027 I'm mixing and matching rows from two patterns here: the Hometown Summer Row pattern by A Quilting Life Designs and the Together pattern by Chelsi Stratton Designs. The Midsummer Fat Quarter Bundle by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics ties it all together. **Finished size:** 51.5" x 61.5" ### Love Language **When:** January 25 – February 12, 2027 A sweet little project for the season of love. The FREE Love Language Quilt Pattern drops January 4, 2027, and the kit features Je T'aime by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics. **Finished size:** 24.5" x 28.5" ### Garden Dalliance Sampler Sew Along **When:** Starting February 2027 I'll be working from the Garden Dalliance Sampler Quilt Book by Shelley Cavanna. More details are coming soon, but I couldn't resist putting it on the list. ### Vintage Block Along **When:** March 2027 – February 2028, kicking off for National Quilting Month! This is the big one. I'm using the Vintage Block Along Quilt Book by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet, along with the Family Reunion Half Yard Bundle by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs. For the background, I'm starting with one 10-yard bolt of Bee Cross Stitch White Pebble (SKU# C747-Pebble), and I'm not using the backgrounds included in the kit. **Finished size:** 90.5" x 108.5" ### Heart to Sew Quilt Along **When:** April 1 – April 29, 2027 A short, focused quilt along to wrap up the spring. The Heart to Sew Quilt Pattern is a FREE PDF by Riley Blake Designs, so there's no excuse not to jump in. As Lori Holt once said, "You can't buy happiness, but you can buy fabric, and that's pretty close." That's the energy I'm carrying into 2027. Which project are you most excited about?
