Welcome back for week 20 of the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along! We're celebrating our amazing quilting community, and this week we're excited to introduce the charming Gazebo block by Doug Leko. It's a beginner-friendly design that comes together with just a handful of half-square triangles and some simple piecing. You won't want to miss Kimberly's live sewing tutorial on Friday, July 10th, at 9 AM CT in the Behind The Seams Livestream on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube channel. ### Meet the Designer: Doug Leko Doug Leko is the prolific quilt designer behind Antler Quilt Designs. He's known for creating patterns that feel fresh and approachable, and the Gazebo block is no exception. Doug is sewing his Sewcialites 3 quilt with Gathered by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics, a collection that adds a cozy, modern vibe to the project. If you're new to quilting, this block is a perfect place to start. ### What You'll Need for the Gazebo Block To make the Gazebo block, you'll need a few basic supplies. Here's what we recommend: - **Free PDF pattern**: Grab the Sewcialites 3 Block 20 Gazebo pattern directly from the Fat Quarter Shop site. - **Information packet**: Download the Sewcialites 3 Information Packet for full details on the quilt along. - **Half-square triangle paper**: You'll need 1-inch, 2-inch, and 3-inch half-square triangle paper to get precise cuts. - **Supply page**: Visit the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along Supply Page for patterns from blocks 1 through 19. Make sure to use nofollow links when sharing these resources online. ### Three Sizes, Three Looks One of the coolest things about the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along is seeing how different fabrics change the feel of a block. Kimberly sewed the 6-inch block using Lyda Rose by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda Fabrics, which gives it a soft, romantic look. Gina Tell (@gina_tell_threadgraffiti) made a 3-inch block in Wild Honey by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics, bringing a warm, earthy tone. And Pat Sloan (@quilterpatsloan) pieced her 9-inch block with Rosie by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics, adding a playful, floral touch. Three of our Quilty Staffers are also joining in, making 9-inch blocks using Blueprint by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, American Gatherings III by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics, and In the Garden by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. Each one shows how versatile this simple pattern can be. ### Join the Community Ready to chat? Meet us in the Sewcialites Lounge on Facebook.
