Week three of the Sewing Machine Love Quilt Along is here, and we're piecing the Patchwork Quilt block. Get the full supplies list and learn how to join the fun.
Week three of the Sewing Machine Love Quilt Along is here, and things are officially getting scrappy. We're piecing together the Patchwork Quilt block this week, and honestly, it might be my favorite one yet.
If you missed week two, don't sweat it. We worked on the Sewing Machine block, which becomes the adorable centerpiece of the whole design. You can still catch up before the next round kicks off.
### What You'll Need to Sew Along
Haven't gathered your supplies yet? Good news: there's still plenty of time to join in. This quilt is a sweet tribute to the machines we love and the projects we share with the people around us.
When it's finished, the quilt measures 46.5 inches by 58.5 inches, a nice, cuddle-friendly size. It features the Bloomsberry collection by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, so expect plenty of soft, cheerful prints.
Here's the full supply list pulled straight from the pattern:
- Sewing Machine Love Quilt Kit
- Sewing Machine Love Backing Set
- Sewing Machine Love Downloadable PDF Pattern (a shop exclusive)
- Sewing Machine Love Binding Keeper (another exclusive)
Once you have those in hand, you're set to work through each week at your own pace.
### Why This Quilt Along Is Worth Your Time
Quilt alongs have a way of turning a solo hobby into something social. You're not just stitching a block in your sewing room alone. You're part of a group of makers working through the same steps, cheering each other on, and sharing the little victories along the way.
As the original post puts it, this quilt "perfectly captures a quilter's love for their sewing machine and the love quilters share through the projects they make together." That sentiment is really the heart of the whole thing.
If you're newer to pictorial quilts, don't let the design intimidate you. The block-by-block approach breaks everything into manageable pieces, so you're never staring down the whole project at once.
### Join the Fun and Share Your Progress
It's not too late to jump in. Grab the sew-along badge, share it on your socials, and let people know you're participating. Everyone is welcome here, whether you're a seasoned quilter or just picking up the hobby.
Start with week one's blocks if you need to, then work your way forward. And when you post your photos, use the hashtag #SewingMachineLoveQAL so the rest of us can find you and follow along.
So pull out those Bloomsberry fabrics, fire up your machine, and let's make something worth showing off. Week three is waiting.
