After a brief hiatus, we're back with a brand-new scrappy quilt pattern: the Sweet Woven Stars Sampler. This free pattern uses four sizes of foundation paper to create stunning stars from your leftover fabrics. Get the full supply list and see how Kimberly is making hers.
### A New Star Is Born
Those treasured scraps have been waiting for their moment to shine, and it's finally here! Since 2022, we've shared a scrappy pattern each year to help you turn leftover fabric into something you'll love. After a little breather in 2026, we're thrilled to introduce our newest design: the Sweet Woven Stars Sampler. This free pattern is available exclusively at Fat Quarter Shop.
The pattern uses four sizes of Woven Star Foundation Paper to create crisp, precise stars from small to large. Mix a medley of prints into each one, and no two blocks will look alike. Dig into your stash and get ready to see stars!

### How Kimberly Is Making Her Sweet Woven Stars Scrap Quilt
Kimberly is keeping her stars sweet and bright with a palette of pink, green, blue, and yellow, and she's skipping dark prints, browns, and grays altogether. To keep the quilt as scrappy as possible, she's using each print only once. Each star needs just eight prints, so she can pull from lots of collections by different designers and manufacturers, and a bigger collection can stretch across a few blocks. Her favorite collections get the spotlight in the 12" blocks, while small-scale prints fit perfectly into the 4" blocks.
For the background, Kimberly chose the White on White X Print Yardage from Coriander Seeds by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. She'll pick her binding and backing once the quilt top is nearly finished.
### Watch the Livestream
Want to see a star come together? In our livestream, Kimberly pieces an 8" block using Sunroom by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics, a collection shipping in April 2027. Along the way, she shows how to press the final seams open while still using the foundation paper, so your seams sit nicely. If you'd rather press the traditional way, our Woven Star Foundation Paper How-To video walks you through it. Both methods work great, so try one of each and see which you like best!
