Welcome back for week 22 of the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along! We're celebrating our incredible quilting community, and this week we're thrilled to introduce the grounded Down To Earth Block by Wendy Sheppard. This isn't just another block pattern; it's a chance to refine your skills and add a stunning piece to your quilt.
### Meet the Designer: Wendy Sheppard
This week's designer is the amazing quilt pattern designer, Wendy Sheppard. She's brought us an intermediate-level block that's all about precision and technique. The Down To Earth Block features flying geese and plenty of piecing, making it a perfect project for quilters ready to challenge themselves. You can join Kimberly for a live sewing tutorial on Friday, July 24th, at 9 AM CT, in the Behind The Seams Livestream on the [Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel](https://www.youtube.com/). Wendy is sewing her Sewcialites 3 Quilt with scrappy red, white, and blue scraps from her stash, giving it a patriotic touch.
### What You Need for the Down To Earth Block
To get started, you'll need a few essential tools. Here's a quick list:
- Sewcialites 3 Block 22 โ Down To Earth by Wendy Sheppard Free PDF Pattern
- Sewcialites 3 Information Packet Free PDF
- 1 x 2 inch Flying Geese Quilt Block Foundation Paper
- 1.5 x 3 inch Flying Geese Quilt Block Foundation Paper
You can also visit the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along Supply Page for the patterns for Blocks 1-21. These foundation papers are key for achieving those crisp, precise points that make flying geese look professional.
### See the Block in Action
Take a look at the Down To Earth Block in all three size options, using different collections! Kimberly sewed the 6-inch block using Lyda Rose by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda Fabrics. Gina Tell made the 3-inch block in Wild Honey by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. Pat Sloan pieced her 9-inch block with Rosie by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics. Each version shows how versatile this pattern is, whether you prefer small, intricate details or larger, bold statements.
Three of our Quilty Staffers are also joining in and making the 9-inch blocks using Blueprint by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, American Gatherings III by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics, and In the Garden by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. It's exciting to see how different fabric choices transform the same block design.
