Welcome back to week 22 of the Sewcialites 3 Quilt Along! We're celebrating our amazing quilting community, and this week, we're thrilled to introduce the grounded Down To Earth Block by Wendy Sheppard. This intermediate-level block is packed with flying geese and intricate piecing, making it a fantastic project for those looking to sharpen their skills. ### What Makes the Down To Earth Block Special? Wendy Sheppard, a talented quilt pattern designer, created this block with a scrappy red, white, and blue palette from her stash. It's a great way to use up leftover fabrics while creating something beautiful. The block features flying geese units, which are a classic quilting technique that adds movement and depth to your quilt. ### Block Sizes and Fabric Options The Down To Earth Block comes in three sizes: 3 inches, 6 inches, and 9 inches. Each size offers a different look and feel, so you can choose the one that fits your project best. Kimberly sewed the 6-inch block using Lyda Rose by Bunny Hill Designs for Moda Fabrics, while Gina Tell made the 3-inch block in Wild Honey by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. Pat Sloan pieced her 9-inch block with Rosie by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics. Three of our Quilty Staffers are also joining in, making 9-inch blocks using Blueprint by Camille Roskelley, American Gatherings III by Primitive Gatherings, and In the Garden by Corey Yoder. ### Live Tutorial and Resources Join Kimberly for a live sewing tutorial of the Down To Earth Block on Friday, July 24th, at 9 AM CT, in the Behind The Seams Livestream on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel.
